I know we have been over this subject about 200 times.. I was wondering about this free picture hosting site everyone on here is using now, is anyone having problems with pop up adds like there has been talk of or any other problems? Or should I use the oldgas site for hosting. I have a lot of pictures for company of the month but don't want to deal with other problems or pop up ads.
Thanks in advance for everyone help
Don

Hey gaspumpman,

I've used it a few times and if fact just yesterday, no problems and no pop ups, knock on wood. Other than operator error occacsionally it's been fine.

Don, I use Photobucket--no ads, pop-ups, etc.
Much easier than I had anticipated. Even has the codes in a box under the pic--just copy and paste! Imageshack is probably the same.

Yes it definitely has pop ups on Image Shack. I switched to Mozilla Firefox as my default browser at the suggestion of Jim Potts and it has been stopping the pop ups but tells me when it does. With Explorer I was getting them every time I clicked on someones thumbnail in the forum.

ImageShack does, at least sometimes, have pop-up ads when you visit their site to view or upload images. It is a free service with considerable overhead. They need to earn income to cover expenses. I do recommend ImageShack.

I don't like pop-up ads myself, but they are not evil, just annoying. Just close the pop-up ad window and it goes away. Or you can run a pop-up blocker as I do. Mine is from Norton, part of their Internet Security software package. Or switch to Firefox , as Curt mentioned, to get away from several annoyances and security shortfalls.

I have not seen scam pop-ups from ImageShack. But they do exist elsewhere. Scams often have a warning that tells you that your computer has a virus and "click here to let us help you with it." Don't fall for it. Don't click "No" or "Cancel" either as they all mean Yes to the scammer. Just close the window. The die-hard scammers make another pop-up appear when you close the first one. Just take a deep breath and close that puppy too. The lack of success is the only thing that will discourage scammers.

Here's the link to photobucket. I recommend Image Shack too despite the pop ups, but will try this site also.

Signed up for Photo Bucket last night and down loaded some pitures. Seems like an easy program to use. Nice alternative to Image Shack and easy to use.

We'll see how this photo shows up.

I just updated the Shop Talk Help page with a form for direct image upload from the Help page to ImageShack. Now you can upload images right from Shop Talk!

Click on Help! near the bottom of this page. Upload your images. Show us your treasures!
