I am spending the winter in Arizona and on my travels around the area we took a tour thru the closed Vulture Gold Mine just outside Wickenburg AZ. This visible was standing by itself out in the yard, it is all that was left and the glass was still intact from 1945... Amazing !!

I think for the good of the pumps self esteem it would be good to move it to my place where he would be around simular states of decay. Rick

Looks like someone needs to go rescue that pump and put in a safe place, like my back yard.

I second the Boyle Dayton. Out at the old Vulture Mine there used to be a Wayne 492 standing. That was until the new owner's son decided he wanted it...now it's in his front yard. I tried for years to get it, but you win some, you lose some...

I don't know visible pumps that much and it was too far away to take a good picture,,, thats as close as I could get as it had a barbed wire fence where I was standing...not much left to it,,, cylinder looked good,,

You mentioned a new owner,, thats why four of us had to pay $10.00 each an do a self guided tour,,there were two guys sitting in old chairs doing nothing all day that took our money,,looks like they never spent any of it on the facilities there or themselves.

when i lived in Phoneix i remember taking a self guided - tour of the Vulture Gold Mine with a couple of friends....i don't know if they had tours back in the early 1970's but a geoligist friend wanted to see it so bad that we jumped thge fence....after going down both shafts we were caught & told to leave......What an interestng story, if i remeber correctly the family had just hit a vein quite deep & unfortunately it caved in on a few of the family members where they perished....the woman was left without son & husband.....then somebody filed a claim very close & tried to tunnel to the vein but were stopped by legal proceddings......
