Ha guys. I'm new a this site, so I thought I would try to post a photo of a gate I'm making for my shop. It's about 12' wide and 7' tall. Made the outline from 3/8' x 1" flat bar filled in with 16 ga. sheet metal. Hammerd the face from 16 ga. sheet also. I'm still working on the feathers, and plan on painting it red with 3/8" gold outline. It should turn some heads as they drive by. Drop me a note, and let me know what you thank. So here we go, hope this works. LOL

indian gate.jpg
Hope you enjoy it, as much as i did making it.

Welcome to Oldgas low, That's a nice looking gate you got there. Did you free hand the cuts with a plasma? If you did you have a steady hand. LoL!

No, I outlined it with flatbar, and then plasma cut sheet metal to go between them. Then I laid dowm a few miles of weld, and a bit of grinding. Probably be a one of a kind. LOL

Mike, Here's a photo of the weathervane. I hammered it from 16 ga. sheet metal{Double Sided}, and made the north - south arrow to look like a real arrow. Powder coated it clear. Thanks

Thats what I call a "fashion statement". One of a kind Im sure. My Wife is a stained glass expert and has made several items for my shop windows in Harley Davidson, for what I ride. Things like what you've done dont happen overnight, and most certainly need to be out there for bragging rights. great job!

Really nice looking! did you hammer into a sand/shot bag? stump? rubber matrix? Do you belong to Metalmeet or Metalshapers groups?

Thanks again for all the wonderful comments, make's me want to start another piece tonight!! Get a job doing what you love, and never work a day in your life. Wish I would of said that! LoL Ha Terry, as for the methed, I just used a Ball Peen Hammer and a Peter Wright Anvil. No, I don't belong to Metalmeet or Metalshapers group. Maybe I should. I'll try to post a photo of the whole gate when I can take one.

...seems like you'd have no trouble making a nice living with that level of talent/ability...I always thought the Indian in your profile pic was an original Pontiac advertising piece...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
