When I haul 4 or more pumps, I always leave them standing up, just wrap one long ratchet strap around them holding them together and then throw a couple of straps over the lot to tie them to the trailer. I've hauled them several hundreds of miles this way, and haven't had any problems, yet.

Sanford: You are probably good having that many tied together as a base. But, the key word you typed is "YET". There is a picture in an old gas restoration book that showed a trailer load tipped over on the road.
