Found this Red Man Chewing Tobacco Sign on CraigsList. Nice!
It is a heavy metal painted 2-sided sign, by the A-M Sign Co. Lynchburg, VA, 7-55. Says, "Drive Safely" on both sides and has 2 bolt-holes one each end. Embossed frame edge for rigid strength.
Guy who sold it to me said, that it was Gas Station sign.
Then the truth came out that he had worked for an auction house, that sold Baseball Collections (Sotheby's), and this sign was given to him from a consigner's collection.
Could this sign be from an exit gate at a old baseball field?
Has anybody ever seen a sign like this at a Gas Station?
Ever seen another one?
Your Experienced Intelligence is Required and Appreciated.
Thanks, Craig P-Lube

I'm not an expert, but I'd bet that the sign is from an old ballpark.

I don't know, it has a screen-door push look to me.

What are the dimensions? cool sign though.

I agree with Jay, looks like a screen door push.

BIG Door Push!
Apologies, seller told me it was a 4 foot sign...
Your excellent comments made me re-measure this morning...
It is 5 FEET LONG!... 60 inches end-to-end!
Screen doors are what? 32 to 36 inches?
Appreciate your thoughts,
Craig

Well, by the markings on the back side it was mounted on two posts. It could have been used at many different locations at the entrance/exit of a parking lot. Grocery stores, gas stations, ballparks, etc.

it appears to me that it may have been part of something else, like a sign or something..........

I think it would be mounted over an EXIT between two posts, Telling folks leaving to drive carefully.
