( Sunday ) - Ahh, The smell of penetrating oil, old gas, and the buzzing of air tools.....Truly a religious experience! The total tear-down of my first pump. Life is good!

Sorry Mike....I liked it to but not so much that I wasn't willing to strip it down to bare metal for a complete overhaul. I won't tell you what my plans are for the pump as it might make you cry! I'll be dropping clues as I go. My other pump is badged with Chevron as well. Not sure which way I'll go with that one yet. Take care, Joe I like that CHEVRON. I know it is good to restore but I like that CHEVRON. Mike

I was fortunate that the VR wasn't in too bad of shape. I was able to use a tooth brush ( soft bristle ) and some Simple Green to clean the bulk of it. The rest I used 000 steel wool and then hit the whole thing with my pressure washer. It was locked up originally so I had to free it up and lube everything. The wheels were in pretty good shape as well, Only had to touch up a few of them. I used automotive trim paint and carefully brushed it on with a small model paint brush. All and all I think it came out good enough for this project. The next one I might do something different on.
I'm fortunate on the wife thing to....I met my wife in High School and even as a teen I spent most of my time in the shop 25 years later she's used to it and as long as I come in for dinner and sit and visit for awhile she doesn't give me much trouble!

Tonight I got the V.R. back together and ready to install back into the pump frame once the frame is painted. I opted to not reuse any of the tin around the V.R.....Kinda like the mechanical look you get from the open gears. That's all for now folks....GOOD NIGHT!
