Just a update on my Tok. 39 rebuild......More to come soon! wink
I think it looks pretty cool as is! Looks like something that came out of the Terminator movies.

Nice! I like the attention to detail! Seems a pump just isn't done right unless you do all of it!

Thank you all! It's been a blast but I have to admit I'm glad to be done with the little detail stuff....Very time consuming! The rest is big sheet metal work so it should go a little faster. I'm glad I decided to tear into my short Tok. first. I've picked up allot of tricks I think will really help when I tackle the tall Tok. 39.

Forgot to add:
I installed heavy duty casters on the base. Just made sense to be able to roll it like a fridge rather than sliding the base across the floor and chancing scratching it, Not to mention it's way easier on the back!

If you look close there is a small Tokheim decal just above the lock on the bottom of the #39 pump. I had those leftover from doing some faces for a #36 and decided to use them there.
Gave it a nice touch for an "un-branded" pump.
I would think they would look good at the bottom of any 39.

Hi Joe,

Leaving the gears exposed on a VR is an interesting thought. That just might appeal to the car/truck guys who,in my experience, only want a pump or two to accent their real hobbies.

I mention this because I think the car guys are an underserved market for those with the gas and oil hobby who like to sell things.

I built up a Bennett 966 one time in blue and yellow that could go either way; Sonoco or Chevrolet. I got pop globes to go either way. The gas and oil guys tried to "beat me up" on it and the first Chevy guy who saw it bought it and asked if I could do a blue and white Ford.

It will be interesting to see what you come up with and how you do on it.

With the amount of work Joe puts into VR's I like to see a pump done w/ clear or lightly tinted skins [acrylic] & all the guts intact [maybe w/ cutaways to show inside pumping units].

You hit the nail on the head my friend! As a "car guy" myself I think the more mechanical looking a device is the better. And since I'm targeting that market ( car/truck guy ) I think it's only logical to focus on things that interest those guys/gals. My only concern?...is that when I'm done with this pump I will not want to let it go!
Thanks for the feedback! wink

D.B. I think your really on to something that I might just have to pursue on one of my next builds. That really sounds like something that would be interesting and unique! Honestly, Myself? I'd rather look at the moving parts that make the whole unit work than just a shinny steel cabinet that covers it all up. I think if a guy could combine the two he might just start a whole new fad! After all pump guts need love to! grin,

Hung the doors last night to adjust the hinges and check everything for clearance before installing the other side panel. Have a little body work left to do on the doors before they're ready for paint and still waiting on some parts. Should be done very soon! cool I'll post full pics. once all the decals and trim are on and the doors are hung.

LOVE THE GLOBE!!!!!!!!!

You need an 8 Ball knob on that crank handle!!!!!
or a flashy "suicide" knob

The little scuff plate under the nozzle...have
"stolen from "so and so" OIL CO." stamped or engraved into it ... laugh laugh

I am doing this computer as a lark, it breaks the monotany of regular computer rebuilding and may
be the only one like this I do at the regular price, since it is so involved.
A little red, some silver, some flat black, a little chrome, bare metal....mis-matched wheels etc.
But there is an underlying reason for the paint/color scheme.
Some ideas for it are still on the drawing board.....it's the "piece of resistance"grin a pump like that needs.
A veritable hodge podge of parts from several different years & modles.
here is a peek at some of the wheels already in the nearly finished head.

You read my mind! Originally I was looking at a suicide knob but I think a 8 ball would be even better.
That computer looks cool and I still plan to have you go through the VR on my tall Tok. 39. Just haven't had any time to pull it out yet.
Thanks for sharing! wink

Already tried that but didn't really like the effect. The bulbs I have in there now are very low wattage so it's more of a glow than bright light.
Off to check out your pics...Looks like you got her done.
