Hi Everyone
As i have said previous, i am new to this however i love it. I am thinking about coming to a swap meet show this year, and looking for advise on the best one's to visit. Will be travelling from the U.K so all help appreciated, i have been to the fall "Chicagoland Coin Op Show 09" It was EXCELLENT loved meeting everyone and made some genuine friends. some very nice people across the pond, just wanted to get the feeling of attending a petroliana show or swap meet.

Thanks Tony.

I think with more items from the Western states Iowa has the best variety. Probably the largest petro show with Columbus a strong second.

Chip's Dixie Gas always looks like a fun time in the fall. I plan to go this year for the first time.

Lets keep in mind that all the shows are great to attend because items at the show are only half the fun. Being able to meet others collectors is the other half! There are 2 things ebay or online auctions period will never do... 1 be able to hold the item before you buy it and 2nd is the friends you meet at shows.

With that being said Tony is so far away and can only come to the states for 1 show what would you attend?

1. Iowa Gas
2. Columbus

Everything else is a regional meet with some better than others. From experience and the collector network: some of the better regional shows are Roy Reed's, Columbia, Peotone and Dixie.

Usually the longer the show has been running....the better the show. 10+ years and it's solid.

Collect small Oklahoma Oil Co.'s 1920's-1940's. Barnsdall, Cushing, Eason, Marland, etc.

My vote goes for Iowa Gas. Excellent items, people, food (Smitty's Tenderloins & Italian Steakhouse), and facility. If you go make sure you stay for the auction Friday.

Tony, If you really want to do a great show then you need to do the Fall AACA Show at Hershey, Pa. There are 9000 vendors with everything from car jacks, gas pumps, advertising, airmeters, car parts, cars, tools, tires, soda machines, the list is too numerous to mention. Last year the walking count was approximately 600,000. That is a lot of shoppers. I've met a lot of people from Europe at that show and shipped stuff to all parts of the world from there. My second favorite is Chip's Dixie Gas in Sevierville, Tn. We have been doing the Spring and Fall shows for years. Great location and people. Not in the same category with Hershey, much, much smaller but pretty much only advertising, gas/oil and soda stuff. Good luck, Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Jarvis is correct i can't do all the shows and need to "Narrow" it down, it's a long way from here, i personally think tnat all you "YANKS" are genuine people and would support you and everything you stand for all the time. Please understand that, just want help and advise, also love to meet people from your wonderful country.
