Seeing who the seller is and the condition of the sign, I would say a repop. But I did not know these were being repoped. Any one have an original to compare it with.

I would guess that is Real. It would be very expensive to repop them I would think.

Probably one of the Only Real Signs that he has ever Sold!!!

To me it is questionable, looking at a photo and not having the item in my hand..... Is it heavy stamped metal or light gauge sheet? The mounting holes look to have no support (no grommets nor backing to keep edges from dimpling and/or bowing out when sign is tightened, IMO. Fine for a flat edge sign, but not raised/folded edge, again IMO.

The seller's rep is also is a major red flag to me.

Jeremy,

BE CAREFUL!! I've got all three of those plates; Two in the larger size with new logo and old logo and the more rare 9X12.Mine is old logo and I think all the stampings are rectangular, not shaped for the new logo as pictured.I'll look at stampings and let you know.

Thanks guys. I would love to find a good one of these that I could afford but this one just does not look right to me, especially considering the sellers rep.

For some reason the ebay pics aren't showing up all the way for me. All I'm seeing is the very top of the pics.....right up to the area you're talking about.
I think you're right about the rectangle but I don't have a picture of an original to confirm it.
Just seeing who the seller is would keep me from bidding.

Wanted: Gas pump globes:Sinclair & affiliates, IL companies. Ripple bodies. Anything Sinclair, Stoll, Pierce, 4 Bros.

I checked all three of mine. They are all rectangles like Jack R posted. But, my 9 X 12 is old logo while PCM's green book shows a pic of what looks like a shaped stamping to accomodate the new logo.Maybe both? Jason has a point in that is a really obscure plate to bother repopping. Bottom line?I don't know.

All of the ones I remember seeing had the rectangle for the both logos. I asked him a question and never got a response. So I will not be bidding.

The washboard lines in background of Jack's original looks much tighter and the imperial wording looks to be deeper or fatter embossing.

I have a pair of mint never used large plates that look like Jacks. It's sort of hard to tell about the one on ebay just from the photo & to its originality. But I don't know anything about the seller either.

After looking at the photo again, I see what you guys are saying. All of the signs that I've seen have the ATLANTIC on a rectangle. Looks like a repop to me now.

OK, Henderson/Benjamin book "Guide to gas pump restoration" show two sizes, 13X17 and 9X12 (split pump).
Book show two different periods 1957-66 with square Atlantic logo and square place for the logo on the sign, and the design of the plate in the auction, time frame 1966-70 with the hexgonal Atlantic logo and hexagonal place on the sign.

(Jacks sign )with hex logo and square on the sign could be a transition time sign - they had a lot already made and just put on the 1966 logo? How is the logo fastened - a separate aluminum piece fastened to the sign or a painted part? Either would be possible i guess.
