I picked up this very primitive compressor recently from a fellow oldgasser. I'd really like to know more about it, and am seeking any info or old literature/pictures.

The motor is a Victor, and there is no name on the actual compressor unit or the tank. Tank is riveted sheet brass with brass valve handles. Compressor base plate is solid cast iron, and the flywheel stand is cast aluminum. The gold details are reminiscent of a sewing machine, and I'd speculate that the unit is from the teens or possibly 20s. The wooden base and box are clearly hand-built.

I'm assuming it was intended for either inflating tires or running a paint gun. Any ideas?

Really unique, wish I had some facts for you. Does the valve manifold have a tapped fitting for a gauge or at least a relief valve?

There is indeed a tapped hole on the valve body for a gauge or relief. The gauge that came with it was newer, so I didn't put it back on. The fitting lying on the table to the left of the compressor in the second pic is the hose barb for the output, and screws into the base at the pivot point of the cylinder. A rubber hose connects from there to one of the hose barbs on the tank.

No, but I do have new tooth-poking equipment at work. They work well for gum-poking, too, if you get too out of hand!
