I have owned at least two GM, Ford and Chrysler cars and trucks. There were things I liked and disliked about all of them. I never owned a foreign car but it doesn't mean I never will.
The issue of foreign and American made cars is totally economic. Why do you think Honda and Toyota built factories in the US? The answer is the same as to why GM went to Mexico, ECONOMICS. Japan and the US can build vehicles cheaper by doing it outside their borders. The foreign partnerships that US automakers are putting together allow them to stay in business. Do we loose jobs, yes, are the jobs replaced with equal pay and benefits, no, thats like compairing apples to oranges.
It's not only wages that cause the moves, Japan is a rich nation and can afford to build plants in the US and they don't have to ship their product half way around the world and pay import fees. And, they get a much better tax advantage in the US. When companies outsource their work it is only because they get it done less expensively.
The world is changing and business has to stay competitive or they die. JMTC

I am a Ford man, but I have to tell you many of my buddies drive Chevy's and swear by 'em.
If your so-called 'junk' Chevy is truly THAT bad, then you need to apply at GM and put your 'superior' machining skills to work to right the wrong.
Or, maybe you're not as good as you think you are and they wouldn't hire you..............

This forum is about gas station collectibles. This topic has gone off away from the subject. Let's keep the discussion about petroliana.
