There were two series of ECO Islanders. The 120 Series which was introduced in 1947 (when the Model 90 Series Air Meters were intorduced. The Model 90 Series head was the one used on you Islander). The 120 was only made for 5 years and I know of only one that has been found in the U.S.
In 1952, the 240 Series ECO Islanders were introduced. Basically there were 11 Islanders in the Series. The were given the numbers 242, 244 & 246. It is the letters that follow the numbers that tell you what the Islander is. Yours is a 244AWT. A-Air W-Water T-Tower (meaning the Model 90 Head)
All the other letters and all the exceptions are explained in my Air Meter Identification book.

I have a 22 minute DVD of a movie that was produced by the Bennett Pump Co. when they came out with the Islander in 1952. It is titled: "ISLANDER." The DVD is in color and with sound, it originally was a 35mm. I believe I have the only copy of the movie known in the US. It starts in the 20s with visible pumps, then the 30s with Bennett pumps, then the 50s with Bennett pumps, all showing the many ways stations provided air. They then show how the Islanders will work on the islands. Great pictures of old cars pulling into the stations. I give this DVD away free with the purchase of my Air Meter Identifiction book. I am the only sourse of the Air book. For more information go to: www.petrocollect.comJack Sim
