I recently found my first my pump!! BUT......from what I can tell, it's an A. O. Smith (Smithway is written on the faces) L-1 model. It's been sitting in the woods on the bare ground leaning against a tree and is no beauty queen to be sure. Searching through past discussions, it appears parts would be hard to come by. Does anyone have parts?? From my initial inspection, frame, base, skins and 1 possibly both doors are in decent shape. It's all the detail parts that are in question here. I'm looking at an initial investment of $125 to by the unit as is. Is it worth taking the plunge?? Sorry I don't have any pics as yet. I stopped by this fellows' place for almost 2 years just trying to get a look at it and last week I was stopping by for my regular reminder when he shocked me and said let's go look at it. Of course I was not prepared and was without camera. I'm looking for thoughts on this problem and any potential parts that could found to purchase.

Sounds like 125 dollars is a decent deal if the sheetmetal is all there and in decent condition.
FREEDOM oil items wanted.

Not to sound ungrateful, I appreciate any responses, but somehow knowing the large community of pump specialists here I would have expected a larger pool of responses to work with. Thanks Ryan, 'Dude for responding.

Dave, congrats on the first one. I've restored several A.O. Smiths. They're easier to restore than a lot of others, such as nice flat areas to fill, prime , & paint. You'll be able to find your cosmetics through this site. They make a nice looking pump when done & globe on top. Good luck, Sam

Post a pic Dave, then we can give you a much more informed opinion as to value and/or desireability. I will say this,an AO Smith is much more scarse than a lot of them and I would be willing to spend more on a restoration to have an uncommen pump that isn;t seen every day.JMO.
