I recently purchaced a gargoyle mobiloil paper sign that measures roughly 15 in by 11 in. it lists 30 cents a quart from bulk for mobiloil E, artic, and A and 35 cents a quart from bulk for BB and B On the bottom it says vacume oil company. I am famillar with the porcalen ones but ive never a paper one before.i am interested in what year it is from and what its value may be.[wife thinks i spent to much] Any input would be greatly apreciated. Thanks,Ron

The only original signs I've seen like this are embossed painted tin, not porcelain. They date from 1920-30's.....Vacuum became Socony-Vacuum in 1931. I've never seen a cardboard/paper version, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not an old original piece. That being said, my first thought would be that it could be a reproduction/fantasy piece. They do make repo tin signs like this.

The auction lot that my sign was in had acouple of other paper items, and im pretty sure all were original. There was a 20s indian cycle sales brochureand also one for harley from 28 i think. A paper texaco sign and one for ibeleive was oilzum motor oil or something simalar.a30s baseball program and a couple of other items of that era.

I have the same cardboard sign. I think I paid $30 on ebay for it. It is legit... its from the late 20's early 30's.If you watch gargoyle mobiloil on ebay you will see them from time to time.
