well i searched some old posts and i have a couple of questions.wonder if t-way ever found out what the 1/2 nipple on the top of pumps was for,and also how does the globe mount on this top? seems like if you just put the globe in here,it could fill up with water and maybe cause a short. Also the bolts seem to short to actually hold the globe in place.thanks, mick

MICK, I HAVE A REPOP GLOBE SITTING IN MY NEPTUNE. YES IT DOES SOMETIMES FILL WITH WATER, BUT ISN'T THERE A DRAIN PIPE COMING OF THAT SPOT INSIDE? IF YOUR SCREWS ARE TOO SHORT GO WITH LONGER ONES. P.I.T.A. SINCE YOU HAVE TO TIGHTEN THEM FROM INSIDE WHERE IT'S TIGHT. IF YOU WIRE YOUR ELECTRIC CORRECTLY, THE WATER SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE LAMP SOCKET. I'VE HAD MINE OUTSIDE FOR 2 YEARS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. IF YOU NEED PICS OF MY SET-UP LET ME KNOW.

The 1/2" threaded fitting is for the price holder. It was a 1/4" threaded rod screwed into a 1/2" threaded plug that held your price sign. db

NOW I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. IT'S THAT DO-HICKIE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE PUMP. I THINK IT'S FOR A PRICE SIGN. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE SO I MADE IT LOOK LIKE THIS... I USED SOME PLUMBING STUFF...A 90º ELBOW, A 12" THREADED PIPE AND A CAP. ALL VINYL...PLASTIC STUFF. HEY IT DOES THE JOB! DOC @ TAG.WEST

Mick: The guys are right (as always ). There is a drain tube brazed to the globe holder to facilitate rain drainage. And you will need longer screws to hold the globe in place. Remember, you have to tighten the screws from the inside of the pump. It's a pain, but I suppose it kept people from stealing the globes. I use brass lamp screws with the knurled heads. It makes it easier to tighten/loosen. Especially when you can't see what you're doing! And the 'nipple' is for a pricer. This attachment seems to have been an option as some Neptunes have it and some don't. And while we are speaking of these Neptune 855's - does anyone have an extra frame top section for sale or trade? One of my friends is doing an 'Aqua 855' (his first pump!) and the top section of the frame assembly was too rotted to save. If anyone has an extra, shoot me an e-mail and maybe we can make a deal.
