I have a chance to purchase a M S 80 tall pump. Jacks book has the value at 550. The pump is solid and complete but the seller is asking more than 550. Is 550 still a fair price and if I bought a repop script top can I convert this pump to a script top. Thanks

Pump values fluctuate. The economy, geographical region, and current demand for "hot" pumps along with other factors are things to consider when comparing an asking price to a book price. At the shows, auctions, and other venues in our area, $750.00 would not be out of line for an asking price for a good MS80.
In regards to the top, you should have no difficulty replacing your ad glass top with a script top. The ad glass tops sold by themselves tend to do pretty good on ebay so you could always recoup some of your money back.
Good luck.

At $550.00 you are asking about the M&S 80 with the large base, not the one with the script top. If this is true, I would say the $550.00 is still about what it is worth.

Depending on how much more he is asking, it might be cheaper than going to a show and buying one for $450.00 considering the gasoline prices, lodging, etc.

One down the road at $650.00 is cheaper than one 1000 miles away at $450.00.

It is the pump with the large base, tall pump, tall top, no ad glass hole. We dont have many MS pumps in these woods. It was brought up from the south.

If he were to take $550 & then you were to buy a repo script top with inserts ($275 + shipping) you'd have about $850 in it. I'll sell you this one right here, repo script to already fitted (probably a half day in making it fit right) for $900 to a US address via ABF Freight (can't do that deal to Canada). If you paypal to robbins61@cox.net, I'll throw in a standard aluminum nozzle & a black hose.

Do all the repo script tops fit like that?\

From the looks of the picture if you were to put the door rubber on it would cover about 1/4 of the bottom script?

OR is it just the way it looks in the photo? Please advise me before I buy a repo top.

Will the rubber cover the bottom 1/4" of the letters.....

Only if you are applying the rubber upside down (here's a pic with a piece of rubber correctly installed):

Thanks for the offer Seth. I will give it some thought as I live about 1hour 30minutes from Niagara Falls NY. I will check to see if I know anyone there that I could ship it too.
