I'm trying to decide weather to take the time to come to the show this year as it's been so disappointng the past 2 years. It's an all day flight for us. Does anyone know how the vendor count is coming? I sent email to Check the Oil but no response on the question. Ray

Hey Ray,,, I have a 7 hr. drive to the show and I wouldn't miss it so far... It has changed venues this year I'm not sure why. Maybe it will be a smaller hotel, who knows.. maybe that will bring out more vendors,, or maybe not... it is probably a ***** shoot. I for one would not fly all day to go to a show of that size,,, but thats just me. How do you bring home much of anything, I guess ship it.. Anyway if you decide to go I would love to meet you and have a drink of some sorts. I do think the person or persons that look after this show would have a lot better response if they were made available a lot better and promoted this show with some enthusiasum . Hope to see you there.

I'll be there. I called the promoters, left a message and was called back. Come on Ray. You need to start reloading after the purge. New hotel is 2 room suites. You can sell in the front and not have to move everything to go to bed.

I don't know how the vendor count is going to be this year but I am looking forward to the show and its new venue. The Embassy Suites is a very upscale Hotel. Free cooked to order breakfast each morning and free drinks at the late afternoon Happy Hour are all inclueded in the price of the room.
All the outside vendors will be in one large parking lot so no wandering all the way around the back of the hotel to see some of the vendors. The hotel rooms are all laid out in a square around a large open courtyard so room trading will also be user friendly.
Aaron and I will be at the show and hope to see many of you there!

Hmm..I've been thinking about whether or not I want to spend my time and money going due to low vendor count and I only live 2 hours away.

I will add my 2 cents. We just had the Hoosier show and yes the Hoosier Show isn't what it used to be. That goes pretty much for all the shows besides Iowa. For last 5 years or so at Peotone there are a few guys (15-20) that get together at a locals house and eat and have fun the night of set-up. Well, last year i invited some of the same guys to my house for dinner and drink a few beverages of your choice before we head out the the promoters house and it really adds to a show. Many years ago the only way to buy cool stuff was at shows but ebay and the internet has made it to easy to buy stuff for your collection without the extra cost of motel and fuel. I have heard many guys at shows say "i sell my better stuff on ebay" and that is disappointing. One thing about shows you will never get with ebay is meeting guys and talking with other collectors. Enjoy the hobby and the people in it!
I will say i have went to Peotone twice per year 7 or 8 years in a row now and twice have come home once with a kite and another a mobil paint can. Did i complain i didn't find something rare or cool... heck no because i had fun hanging out with friends. Yes it would be great to go to a show and buy something rare or "get a deal" but sometimes it just doesn't happen.
I was talking with Tom Buckles last night... it was the worst show for selling pumps for him. Guess what... he bought a complete Wayne 70 missing doors for $20 and got a killer Sinclair triple check sign and got to see some great collections. I am sure he had fun in the end!
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

I called the promotors # with no answer and no answer phone. I wrote an email on Friday, still no answer. Just not sure what to do. All I asked was how is the vendor count and wonder why they arn't answering. It's too bad as this was always a fun show

I have ran a show for many years and I can tell you Vendor count does not mean a thing before the show, pre-registered vendors declined year after after, But come the day of the show it always turned out ok with vendors pouring in. I never responded to people asking the vendor count because you tell them 8 vendors are pre-registered and it sounds like the show is a wash. I can only assume that may be the reason you are not getting a response.

Nancy and I will be there for the 16th year. It's about a 1100 mile drive for us. None of the shows are like the old days, but we get to see all of our collector buddies. You can find more than you can pay for, on the internet, but there's nothing like feeling what you're buying! See you there.

I'll be there this is my 7th or so show at columbus, ray is right, Iowa is great. However, everyone has been talking about vendor count what about advertisements to the locals in the columbus area. the regristration form says the show is all day friday and saturday, you can sell till 12 noon on sunday, without the area people the show is usually over by noon on saturday. Anyway it's alot of fun and I know we all enjoy ourselves, seeing people and talking and trying to find that one more item you need. see ya all there

I don't know how many years the show has been on the west side of Columbus ( Dublin ) but I started when it was on the east side of Columbus at the Lennox Inn.. and I went there for two years before it moved..Vic Raupe was the only guy I knew at that time and I don't think I've seen Vic since, well maybe once at the Chicago coin-op show. I first met Vic in Lakeland FL. at a swap meet.. yrs ago...your right Butch,,it's great to see all the guys . I've sure met a lot since then..all great guys. Wes.
