Can anyone out there give me any info. on Silver Shell gasoline? Dates, etc. I saw a pump restored like this and it really looked good, I've never seen another one.
Thanks, Mike

Mike, Silver Shell was the name used for cut rate Shell gasoline to fight competion from cut rate dealers that would set up stations along side a rail spur and buy second rate gas by the tank car.
Silver Shell was the name used in midwest and east, Green Streak was the name used in the west. This was during the early 1930's.
See if you can find a book on Shell called "Enterprise in Oil" by Kendall Beaton. The book has a couple of pages that tell about Silver Shell. They also had a tanker named Silver Shell.
Hope this helps.
Good luck, Ed
