I finished the chicken coup and am now a chicken rancher. So now I am back to trying to finish the office part of my gas station. My goal is to make it look some what run down and like mom and pops just up and walked away from it. I cant remember if I have asked this before but here it goes.I want to paint almost every thing in the office the light green I remember seeing as a kid. I want to paint the old wood desk, desk light, walls, shelves, even the tire holders in the window all the same light green color. There will be other non painted cabinets (cash regester) in the room to add a little flavor but for the most part I would like a dingy light green almost white color. Of course the wife wants every thing with colors that go together. Am I off base on what I think it would have looked like? Remember this is MOM & PoPs Thanks for any input especialy if it's in favor of my taste and budget!!! Rick

What brand of gasoline are you going to restore the station in? I would match the colors to the company. I'm not sure who would have used light green except maybe Associated Oil.

Rick, I remember "Mom and Pop" country store/pumps as having a variety of colors. In the deep south if they had a soda stand or little restaurant(eating area), red naugahyde and chrome combo. Funny, in the midwest I remember red or black naugahyde/chrome combo. On the westcoast I remember red or black or cream colored naugahyde/chrome combo.
For the wall color I remember off white walls and some with pale green, covered with ads for everything. In most it was hard to tell what the wall color was because of all the signs and items.

After painting just go work under the hood of an old car for awhile then go rub your hands on the walls.

I too am going to ask you what oil company brand are you restoring the station to?
I have a great deal of old invoices you can lay on the desk from many oil companies, you can mark them all pass due. Let me know, just pay the postage and they are yours.

Sorry, didn't see where you stated Texaco. Will look and see what I can find that will add that old flavor to the station.

Well...you are asking for opinions right??? The light green in question didn't look good back in the day...seriously doubt that it's improved any now. I say go with antique white and ask the paint mixing person if they can add anything to it to make it look like the paint has patina to it.
