Hey guys just landed a great find at a local junk auction! It's a Mobiloil Gargoyle light with super heavy base. I will describe it the best I can until I can send someone pics of it so they can post them on here for me.

It has a super heavy 19.5 wide round base. The base has all raised lettering that reads Gargoyle Mobiloil with the Gargoyle in the middle. On the opposite side of the base it reads "Property of vaccum oil company". The bottom 1/2 of the main pole attached to the base goes up about 1/2 way. Then it's a seperate pole that slides into the main pole and is adjustable to about 10 ft tall or so.

I dont think its a pump island light so I wanted to know what they were used for. Someone did a great job repainting it a long time ago but it's still in great shape!

PS: Who wants the pics?

Sounds like someone crafted something using a base for a curb sign.

Is there a "V" on top of the pole ? It sounds like a home made exhaust pipe holder for use under a hoist.

Eric--It sounds like a modified curb sign pole but its a great find and I'm sure that someone out there is looking for one! Nice find!
In order to send the pics to mike--click on his name (bruzer 75) and get his email address from his profile. Then he can post them here for you.----KEVIN

Eric, if you click on a member's name you will be taken to a window with different options. One of those options is their "profile" which should have their email address and for some their webpage. (I notice you don't have an email down in your profile)

If you can't send them to Mike for whatever reason, my email is rain3482001@yahoo.com and I will post your photos.

Thanks for the help guys, when I saw it at the auction I didnt know what to think of it. I immediatly questioned it but thought maybe....lol. For what it went for I just had ot gamble. It'll go good with my Mobil Oil corner of the garage. I was thinking of adding a small Mobil sign to attach to it somewhere. Where on the pole and what shape would you'all suggest?

The shade looks like one from the side of a station or other building. I would say the light is worth $25-50, and the base is worth $140-180.

Is that an original top on that script top?
