Like most of you(I think), space for my different collections is at a premium. Once I run out of room, my collecting for a certain item(s) is done. So for the most part I have been semi-picky. Well, long story short; I have completed 2 of my collections by running out of room. All empty spots have been filled and so the world and collectors alike are safe from my sniping. Atleast for a while, LOL. Here is my Mazda Lamp tins and bulb collection, completed: Also, my Handy oiler collection, completed unless I see a Marathon Soap Box Derby tin: Uploaded with ImageShack.usI will miss the thrill of the hunt and that feeling I get when I snatch an oiler from someone at the last second. (Broadband internet, rocks ) So bid away and know that I'm not out there hunting for a way to ruin your day.

Looks good Bob now we have to figure out a way to pull some storage down out of the rafters. Hope your treatments are going good. Still expect to see you on my door step one of these days. Richard

Bob; Nice Collection. I hate to break this to you but, you will never be "Done". Once you have "The Bug" the thrill of the hunt will press you to find room for more.... There will will always be that Deal that is "Just too good to pass up". You can always blame it on the need to "Upgrade" your collection, when you find the same items in better condition. You know, if you aligned your handy oilers by height, it would allow you to add one more shelf. And if you turn them at a 45º angle you can view two sides, and that would make room for more.... SEE!!!! Chuck

Chuck, I can honestly say that for me that doesn't happen. Usually I get bored once I stop collecting an item and sell my collection. Or atleast that is what has happened when I filled the spaces I had for my "gas pump" radios, S&P shakers and Tire and Tube patch collections.
All of these collections ended up on the shelves of Oldgas members.
The "need to hunt" is still there, I just haven't decided which direction I can afford and if I have any available space to start a new collection.
For right now, I think I will keep gathering small items for my Coffee Table Books and pay off some of my hospital and Doctor bills. Seems the last few years every time I pay them off, I end up sick again.

Hey Bob Dont pay them off!! It sounds like you would feel better. I know what you mean about getting bored with things. I recently moved out all my dark room equipment. My wife says our place is littered with my past and present hobbies. I will never get bored with the smell of old gas though. Good luck with the stone.

Bob; That sounds great, once you are done with an item you can sell them and start over on something new. So the process never ends and is kind of self funding at a point.
