I see our friend from Argentina has been working on his signs.

Different sizes than before, so for those who may be new and or haven't read about him before take note.

Auction # 220637164783

I tried to place a $5 offer on it, but I was denied. How rude! grin

I am new to all this.

How can you tell that Vico sign is a fake?
The rust and wear looks pretty good.

Being a porcelain sign, it shouldn't have rust on the backside. Unless it has a chip. The backside of a sign was the protected side, up against a building. For the most part the backside should be the better side, the front was getting all the weather.

Also this guy has been busted here, in PCM magazine, on ebay... etc.... has changed his ebay name atleast twice.

I still can't see but one mounting hole on this supposed original sign.

My post is to let people know that he is now making fakes in smaller sizes.

Money, pure and simple. Signs are expensive, especially original signs. If one can find/make repops and fantasy signs, weather them and sell them as originals. One can then turn a "pretty" profit. If you ask about his signs, most of the time you get no answer. If one does get an answer it is pure BS, or that is my experience with this seller.

IMO, if you aren't an expert on signs, ask questions here. Pick up books on signs and advertising. Better to ask about a sign that you have a question about and find out it is an obvious fake or fantasy, before putting out good money on something that is is worth $20 and you have put out hundreds. We see that all the time, unfortunately.

I don't have a lot of money, even less since I got sick. So I steer clear of most signs, mostly because of a lack of funds.

When small regional company pump plates are repopped then everyone hold on to your hats. Quite a few of these company signs are holding their value and adding value because they are scarce and hard to find in decent shape. Atleast that is the opinion of this sign novice.
