I'm sure I already know the answer but thought I would check with you, the experts. A friend of mine just bought a G&B clockface pump from an old longtime owner and this was on top. The base is 6" and it is tinted blue. Is it some kind of crazy old globe, old light/lamp shade, or?

It looks like a 1930s ceiling light globe. I really like it though!

That's what I thought but it did look kind of cool on top of the pump, thanks.

I bet it did look pretty cool on a clockface with the deco styling. I've seen a picture of a Coryell 70 station in Tulsa from the '30s to early '40s. It used visible pumps with some grape-bunch looking light globes on top. The pumps were painted up like ears of corn to advertise ethanol, so maybe it had to do with that.

Defiantly from the 30s. There are some very nice looking shades from that era. I would keep it too.

That is a very fine Art Deco 1930's hanging fixture shade. I collect Deco items from the 20's and 30's, so I have some knowledge of these and some can bring pretty good money. I don't know the height of it but assume it is pretty large and looks to be opalescent glass, which helps the value. I've seen these from $150 up to the high hundreds, depending on if it is marked with country of origin. (French is the best normally, but I'm pretty sure it's American.) I would think this one would go towards the better end of the scale. Neat piece. I have these shades all over my place, as when I find them I can't pass them up. Even when they aren't on a fixture they look neat in groups. Darin

Looks to me like the Art Deco fixture is sitting on a 1930's Art Deco vanity, lol. Maybe you are a collector and you don't know it. Good luck with the show, Darin

Yep, gasahol isn't new. According to my Dad, FDR didn't support it. Think where we'd be if he had. Here's the link to an earlier thread on gasahol with another link to the article in the Omaha World Herald about the station in Lincoln, Nebraska. Looking to buy or trade old gas station memorabilia such as pumps, globes, cans, signs, free give-aways, S&P shakers etc. from the 20s-60s.
