recently got this and it looks like it was never used,too bad label is missing.any idea of age and what packing was used for?seems like graphite? anybody got one with a pic of the whole label? it does have the top. thanks mick

Looks to be some sort of oakum/graphite? I recently restored a very early curb pump and found a graphite packing material, similar to this, around the stroker stem. Maybe the materials were made by an oil company? Kinda makes sense....Paul www.severngaspumps.com
