Have the Red Crown Gasoline paddle 10 inch signs been repoped?

Thanks. Any way of telling the original from the the repo? I had a chance to buy one at an auction but passed on it as I was not sure if it was real or not. It did not have heavy shelving nor any grommets and it did not look like it ever had grommets. Sign was also near perfect.
