Hello guys!

I'm new here… and not that new…

Back in 2004 I visited your website under the user name "Fairlane" looking for help for my 1:1 replica project of a tok 39. I was living in Spain back then and getting an original tok 39 over there was almost impossible. So I decided to make a real scale replica for my own.

The user "Thunder" helped me a lot by sending all dimensions of a Tok 39. Finally, due to work and other circumstances I never build that replica.

Many years later (beginning 2010) my brother and I decided to start a website about junk model cars (www.modeljunkyard.com). One day, I was looking for something in my old computer and I found the file with all dimensions of the Tok 39 that "Thunder" had sent to me.

I thought: "hey, why not building a 1/16 scale model of that gas pump to join my '57 Chevy junk car diorama"…. and so I did, and here it is:

The pump is not 100% finished and I just put it together with some tape for the picture as I still have to work on weathering and rust effects on it.

I'm thinking about making more scale replicas of old gas pumps and gas stations... but we'll see… I have lots of ideas and never enough time to make all of them come true. We'll see….

Here you have some pictures or my '57 Chevy diorama project:

@ THUNDER: THANK YOU!!

That is awesome! I also like to build models (my username scalebowler is because I have been working on a scale model bowling alley for a few years now.) I'm actually working on some scaled down versions of some drive-in theater signs that I am going to send to each theater as a way of saying thanks for their help getting some drive-in speakers. It is always fun to do this kind of stuff.

@ Vermonter: Yes, I already exchanged some posts with ed shaver in another forum. He does a great work!

@ LC 336: Thanks!

@ scalebowler: I would love to see more of your work! Maybe we can exchange some ideas....?

@Thunder II: HEY!!!! I had a look at your old profile and sent you an e-mail to your old e-mail address, but I got a message back that your e-mail was no longer in use. I'm glad to meet yo again!! Thank you a lot for your help back then. I was telling my wife about you today and I said: "may be I should build that replica once and for all". She said: "yes, why, not?" (That's why I married her!)
Let's stay in touch!

That would be great. I can get some pics of some of my projects posted tomorrow. The drive-in signs are not done but close and the bowling alley has the pinsetter almost done (that went more twards the functional side than the scale model side) and the other parts like the stuff that goes over the lanes to hide the machines and the seating is close to being done and scale too. I even used some real parts from an old bowling ball return to make some parts more realistic.

@ Ed Shaver: well, I'm working on many projects now. I love scale models and creative work in general. I designed and build all my furniture at home (4 years ago). At that time I also wanted to build a gas pump replica but with the furniture project and having a lot of work I had to put the replica project on stand-by. Finally I built a scale model... at least.

@ Chuck: thank you!!

Heres a link to our first conversations...
http://oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6067&page=1

I can remember being outside in the snow, taking measurments, making drawings, and freezing, in an attempt to answer all of the questions. Check out his CAD drawings in the original post.

Great work my friend! Your work is truly an inspiration to us model builders.

I just posted yesterday my new project, a TEXACO Gas Station Diorama. The 2 gas pumps in that diorama are also scratch built, but in 1/25 scale.
Here you see one of the pumps in a close up.
Enjoy! laugh
