Maureen and I will be there for Dixie Gas. We have rented a cool log cabin up in the woods. We are very ready for this trip. Somebody might have to come up there and drag us out to make us go home.

I have had the motel booked for two months. I can not wait to see the stuff at this show. Went to the spring and had a good time but had to cut it short. I am bringing my dad who has turned into a petro nut also. See everyone there. Phil

Thanks, Phil

Maybe we can all meet for a group photo like in front of Chip's old store at a certain time on Thursday or Friday. Personally, I will be leaving late Friday afternoon. But we have a few weeks to decide on a time and location. It would be great to meet everyone at once.

That sounds like a great idea to meet at a certain time and place. This is my first time there, so I'm open to suggestions. Maybe we could meet, and then later, those who want could go a restaurant and eat dinner together.

Where and when?

I'll stick to staying on the Newport side of the tracks. If you bring a spouse and want to do the tourist thing, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville are the places. As is the bumper to bumper traffic...like 1 hour to go 1 mile. It's probably not like that all the time, but that DID happen to me (several times) and I swore I would never go there again. But as for the photo session. Is everyone going to be there Friday? let's pick a day, then a time.

Several guys have shown interest in going out for dinner after the show on Thursday. Tentative plans are to go to a steak house in Newport. If it's going to be a large group we should make reservations. Who's in?
Bob
P.S. I think Gary is going to pick up the tab. LOL

Count me and my father in. Reservations would probably be nice. I have had the pleasure of having breakfast at Gary's house and know that he likes to feed people. We accept your offer Gary. LOL!! I like a monster ribeye cooked medium with all the works. "Lamont" McCauley

Thanks, Phil

Let me know and I'll get the reservations made.

Maureen and I are in for whatever meeting place, meal or group picture thing that is happening. Just let me know where and when and we're there. We are staying in a log cabin at High Valley Rentals 12 miles east of Sevierville on Hwy 411 towards Newport. Chip recommended the place.
You guys are getting me pumped up. I'm going up and start packing now. Maureen, where's my Oldgas shirts?

John, I'll tell you what would get broke if you picked up the tab......YOU!!! LOL. I won't be able to pick up the tab.....all my money (what little there is) is earmarked for GLOBES. Rex can't buy, he won't let us get any appetisers (inside joke).
Ummm, Jim.......there might be a bunch of us poor hungry oldgasers showing up at your cabin for a cookout. LOL.
Add Fins and V Twins (Mike Howell) to the list.

How about all Shop Talk users meet at 11:00 Thursday morning by the show entrance so we can get a group photo?

I think we're at 14 on the dinner list. What time should I make reservations for?

Here's the list I have so far:
Phil and his father,
Rex & Nita,
Jim and Maureen,
Mark & Melba,
Greg,(Bonnie?, and Todd?),
Jerry,
Mike,
Gary,

Anyone else want to go? Is 6:00 OK?

Looks like Doug Shelton and his wife will be joining us for dinner.

I called the Sagebrush Steakhouse and Saloon and found out they don't take reservations, but they assured me that we could get a table for all of us together if I call an hour ahead.

Let's meet there at 6:00 pm on Thursday.
If you want to go to mapquest and print a map the address is:
201 Heritage Blvd.
Newport,TN 37821

I-40 exit 435 to US 321 to Heritage Blvd. Its next door to Motel 6.

Depending how the show is going we might be late , we are hoping that Greg Brown will buy us out and we will be able to be on time. It takes about 20 min to get to newport from the show but i will try to be on time.
