Great thread here. The Cities Service Koolmotor truck is mine and is for sale but it ain't cheap. The truck is a 1941 International K4. Tank was made by Heil Mfg out of Milwaukee Wi and the whole unit is original and all put together in 1941. Truck is a ton and a quarter, that's what the 4 stands for. There were only 3516 of this model made from 1941 to 1944 and then they were discontinued. I did the grunt work and then turned it over to my paint guy.(Does cars that go to Barrett Jackson etc} It is as exact as I knew how to make it, new everything, runs like a dream. Pappy Vance in Hannibal MO who is the IH guru of the world and has worked on IH trucks for about 70 yrs now told me that in his time he has seen one K4 and heard of another, his words were "rare, very rare." Anyone interested I can email pic's, or you can call me 715 336 2495. Tnx Terry

Designed by W.C. James, who was head of the special effects department at Twentieth Century Pictures Studio. The truck was illuminated with 600 feet of neon tubing. Blue neon was used for the outline and side lettering. Gold neon for the radiator shell. Red neon for the cab lettering and the Red Lion and "Roar ..." slogan at the rear. Fifteen thousand volts was used to light it. Power was created by four generators mounted on the left side of the engine and driven from the fan belt. Here's the other photo I have of it...

You just know that was one "Proud" driver, getting to drive that Gilmore Truck.

It wasn't always a beautiful world for these drivers.
Car involved in this one. (not in photo)
Appears the driver swerved to miss them.
