I wanted to know if someone could help me. I have a tag from a gas pump that use to be on my family farm. The gas pump caught fire years ago (the building beside it burned down) and now there isnt much left of the pump. So, I was wondering if the serial number could shed some light on the pump. My dad believes it was a Sinclair, but isnt sure. What kind of information, if any, can be gathered from the serial number?
It is: 829064 4 40
The model number is 39, but there is no type on it (unless it was printed on instead of being pressed in like the other numbers. Actually, the id tag was burned & the only legible things are the model, serial number, and underwriters number).

Welcome to oldgas. I dont think there is a way to research your pump with the numbers on the tag.

I will get some pics later today and post them. Be prepared, the pump was burned & then thrown over a cliff for about 15 years so its one big piece of rust! However, we are interested in it because its a piece of our family history smile

A picture will also help US to tell ya what you'll need to restore or IF it's worth your time doing so.

Easy instructions for post pictures;

Been away for almost two weeks with internet problems.

Very surprised no one could answer this.

The pump is a tall 39, and the numbers provided tell me it was made in April, 1940.
