The glass and plastic flames were used on signs, not pumps. I seem to recall they were used on pumps--glass and plastic.

The Flame globe in topic wasn't made for pumps, has a 5" ring on 4" threaded base. Flame was also made of die cut flat porcelain bolted to later signs.

Glass & plastic globes were used on pumps, but the Standard Flame glass & plastic globes were not made to be used on pumps.

Does anyone have a pic of this to post it would settle all questions...... No question...glass and plastic flames were both used on signs. Standard started using the glass version in '46 or '47. The plastic version was introduced in the mid 1950's. There was a 2 pc porcelain bowl that mounted to the top of the sign. The flame mounted in the bowl.

Another UTOCO sign with glass flame. Pan-Am and Amoco with the red/white/blue torch & oval sign would have used the flames as well.
