Hi guys, I need help on value for a Wayne 60-T gas pump. I found a Wayne gas pump which looks like the Wayne 60-T in Jacks new book on page 327. It is in good condition with Mobil add glass. I know some pumps are off in value do to the ecomony so what is this pump worth in todays market and has anyone seen one of these. They don't look like a normal Wayne 60. Sorry I don't have a picture. Thanks

It always depends on condition and Jacks book lists it at $2800. That might be a bit high in todays economy but if its in nice shape as you say, I would venture a guess around that $2000 mark. Those are really nice pumps and I've been looking for one for quite a while but no luck. There are several members on here that have obtained one in the last year and maybe one of them will chime in with their thoughts on value. We expect pictures as soon as you can get some up!
Remember--True value is exactly what you can talk someone else into paying for it that day!

...that pump is doing just fine in this economy...there's plenty of money floating around for stuff like that...hold out for top dollar, if it's complete and in good condition - you likely won't find another one...

...the 60 T was used exclusively by Tidewater Oil Company (Tydol) in the mid 1930's...not many were made, and they are consequently hard to find...they look like Buck Rogers redesigned a Wayne 60...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Get it. I bought two. One I got for a little less than book value and one was more. Another member recently bought one also. Here are mine. Found a shoebox for the green one (it is the same pump pictured above.

Matt sets a good example of a collector with a refined focus. Some guys collect everything they can get for a reasonable price and have a ton of stuff. Some collectors get to a point where they want to refine their focus. Instead of having massive quantities, they go for fewer items but higher quality.

Long time collectors will often say to buy the highest quality items that you can afford. For most of us, that means way fewer items than if we collected some common and rough things. The nice stuff holds its value and appreciates. Common stuff, not always.

My point is, if you have a chance to buy an outstanding pump like a Wayne 60 T, go for it even if you have to sell some common stuff that you're really not in love with.

No pressure. LOL

I have been doing what Jim said. I want to have a 100 + pumps, but I end up selling pumps (and other things) I have to get the nice or rare stuff. I have sold pumps (and other things) that I did not want to but needed to to get ones I wanted even more. This may go, but not sure yet. I have had it for 22 years.

cry I guess I'll step-up and grab this bull by the horns, bury the hatchet so to speak. I told racecop the story of how a Wayne 60T was the most expensive pump I have ever owned, it cost me 2 friends. I bought it over a year ago on E-bay and was the only bidder. Strange for such a rare pump no one else was intereted and I paid to ship it from New York to Tucson. I made a deal on a shoebox globe for the pump and even after the seller found out it was more valuable, we both honored our agreement. A new found friend in San Diego wanted the pump, it was not for sale. I began e-mailing with Matt Alveraz and the rest is now history, I am the seller of the red Wayne 60T and globe in his pictures. I wish I had never seen that pump, it has proven to be way too expensive to me. Ed.
