About a week ago a nice man approached me. He said that he digs for bottles at an old dump that has been close since the 1940's. He said he found a Sucony (yes I know its SOCONY) sign while he was digging. We came to an agreement on a very fair price and I picked up the sign at his home. The sign is in very very very rough condition( I am not the type to buy rough signs), but I thought it would be a nice original piece to hang up in the garage. I would estimate this sign has been in the ground for a while. After every tag sale, garage sale, and barn sale I hit- I always say "If I got here earlier I may have found something" I always feel like I lost out or most of these gas items have been bought up by pickers and antique shops. There are still some great items out there and now my outlook has changed. Even though this is not the best sign, it is still a piece of gas station history. Enjoy!

I ACTUALLY SAW ONE OF THE SAME SIGN (I THINK) ON THE SIDE OF A POTATO BARN A FEW YEARS AGO THAT WAS BEING TRANSFORMED INTO A HOUSE (AND QUITE NICELY I MIGHT ADD). I INQUIRED AT ABOUT 8AM ON MY MORNING WALK. BY LATE MORNING IT WAS IN MY HANDS FOR FREE ALONG WITH ANOTHER SIGN (FLOUR) BOTH OF WHICH WERE ONCE BURIED UNDER THE BARN WHICH WAS MOVED. I SOLD IT EARLIER THIS YEAR AT A SHOW.

CHECK OUT WHAT THIS GUY FOUND WHILE DIGGING BOTTLES ALSO IN N.Y. STATE:

WELL HE STUMBLED UPON IT WHILE SCOPING OUT AN AREA FOR BOTTLE DIGGING.
THIS WAS TWO WEEKS AGO. IT'S 4.5' TALL BY OVER 13' LONG!

I HAVE FOUND 2 PORC SIGNS WHILE LOOKING FOR BOTTLES MYSELF.

THE STUFF IS (HIDDEN) OUT THERE, LOL!

Found two Veltex 6ft round signs under blacktop that was being torn up once here. One was ok and the other was rough. Both would have been better had I been there before the track hoe pulled them out. Undercover signs
