What was the deal with the 80s? The ones that just have wayne pump co. on the tag and nothing about M&S, were these the first pumps offered before M&S started. Or were they offered with or with out M&S. My friend is restoring two 80's and is looking for someone who has the face plates for the wayne w/o M&S. He doesn't like the big black circle, he want the one where the black is square around the numbers or pure white with nothing blacked out. Any ideas? (allsho80)

Allsho80, I have the faces your friend is looking for (black square around the numbers) and would trade them for your friend's. I'd prefer the round black with M/S. Email me and maybe we can get together. Thanks, Rod

If you look on page 202 of my Gas Pump Identification book you will see that M&S first introduced the 80 in 1946. It had M&S faces. Then on page 329 you will see that the 80 is is now being made by Wayne. It had the M&S/Wayne faces. A couple of years later Wayne dropped the M&S name and the 80 was now a Wayne pump. It had the Wayne faces. All this also applies to the ID tage. Jack Sim Author of the bible.

I don't have any control when it comes to how the book is put together. My book was probably the first to fall apart, considering how many times I looked into it answering questions sent to me. What I did was take it completely apart, punch holes on each page and put it in a loose leef binder. Actually it is easier to handle now, it will lay open, and I can even add pictures sent to me for the new book. Jack Sim
