I bought a Tokheim 39 gas pump. I want to restore it as a Texaco pump as close to original as possible. I've looking at the reproduction globes and there are so many to choose from.
My questions are:
1) I want the globe to have the star with the green "T". I belive these pumps are from the 1950's. Is the green "T" before WWII?

2) They make the globes in 13 & 15 inch models. Which should I buy?

3) What body colors are correct for a Texaco pump? I was thinking red for the doors and black for the sides.

Image below.

Any help is appreciated.

There is a black T & there is a white T that outline the green- the white T would be the correct for the 50's pump
13 1/2 globe is the correct size
black & red & white for pump colors, more colors the better they look

DEPENDS ON WHAT GRADE YOU WANT TO DRESS UP IT AS. SKY CHIEF OR FIRE CHIEF?

FIRE CHIEF IS AN ALL RED PUMP USING THE STAR/GREEN T GLOBE.

SKY CHIEF IS AN ALL SILVER PUMP USING THE SKY CHIEF GLOBE.

I BELIEVE THE CORRECT SIZE GLOBE WOULD BE THE 13.5"

Pump is a 39L [short], approx. 5ft tall. 1952-1959.
IT'S YOUR pump, paint as you want. Buy globe, signs, decals THEN have paint mixed to match [you'll be happier w/ the results].
Takes lots of pictures during disassembling & burn to a CD [computers DO crash & you'll loose pictures].
Most vendors that adv. here, have most parts you might need.

Color codes for PPG automotive paints are as follows:
Texaco Red - 70008
Texaco Green - 42783
Texaco Silver - 2518 in PPG (and 42159 in Sherwin Williams)

Texaco Fire Chief pumps (regular) were Red and Texaco Sky Chief pumps (premium) were silver. Diesel Chief pumps were green. Pump bases were black.

B&W photo, but you get the idea:

I bought the PPG 70008 in the Shopline acrylic urethane for my Tokheim 39. PPG Shopline and PPG Omni are essentially the same. I did use an acrylic urethane clear over the red for my pump.

Hey Roger,
This came up in another thread a while back and I don't think I ever got an answer. I have a Tok 300 dressed up in Fire Chief. I have a Fire Chief globe, ad glass and decal on it. I see the one in the picture doesn't have the Fire Chief globe. Is that how they were? Is mine "wrong" because everything says "Fire Chief"? I don't really care, just want to know. Thanks,
John

John,
Fire Chief globe was only made as a 15" & Maybe only for a promotion. Pogo had one a few years ago.
I've never seen an old photo where the stations used them.

I believe that is correct that the red Fire Chief (regular) pumps all had star globes. At least all the old pictures I have seen show them that way.
