Alan, I think you are mistaken. I think it is the "real deal".
When I worked at the Flying A station, we used bar soap with similar packaging. ("employee soap", I presume it was made by Borax as it had pumice in it)
The station owner always reminded us not to put it in the restrooms as the customers shouldn't have to use such a "rough" soap. (mid'60s, we still had bar soap in the restrooms)
I had forgotten about it until I saw the auction.
Plus for me, I've purchased items from this seller in the past and he tries to ensure everything is correct.

My first thought was a fantasy piece, like the Scottie dog pins on the "old cardboard and the bags of marbles. This item...I am not sure. Wish Black T Doug would weigh in on this.

Then again.....the Scotties and those logos were in the 30s. this looks like it is wrapped in plastic. I don't hink they had plastic. Or is it some other kind of material that it is wrapped in???

The colors and fonts look amateurish to me, and the entire package doesn't seem professional enough for an outfit like Texaco. The piece looks like it was printed on an old inkjet printer. Hence my post.

I gotta go with Bob on this one. Logo and Scottie dogs would date this to roughly 1933 - 1936. Package looks like it may have gotten wet at one time, and the soap is probably nothing short of "Granny's Lye Soap" or Borax. Alan, I think you are mistaken. I think it is the "real deal".

The soap is now over $25, so there does seem to be some interest in it.
5-1/2 hrs to go over $42.00
