Hey Guys & Gals,
It's time to share the petro relics that we've stumbled across in our recent travels, and check out what other people have found as well.
If you would like to contribute to this feature, simply post the pictures here or email them directly to me and I will post them for you. Be sure to include a story or description with your submissions.
If it's too close to the next installment, please note that I may hold your contribution for posting when the new FATW comes up. Send 'em in!!
Happy Trails!
Wes

This company tests gas station equipment to make sure you're not getting ripped off at the pump. I've known about this company for a while (they are customers of my employer), I just never knew where they were located. Now I do. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I didn't know that Wareco still did business. I stopped and told them if anything extra pops up sign wise, to give me a call.

Truckstop outside of STL on the ILLINI side. Had three of these, all rigged up a bit different than the others. No heads to speak of anywhere.

Racecop, I found those exact signs about 12 years ago and still think about them to this day (I have many pics somewhere). I see the frame is still there but the diner sign is gone off the 2nd sign. I always wondered if they were still in that same small town but never went back to see. Is this a recent picture? If so, it's amazing there still there.

My collection is slowly growing, A huge thanks to Maurice (souperhigh) for wheelin and dealin with me today. I did some trading for my first globe! I know most of you may not understand, as you collect pristine glass, but when he showed me this globe a few weeks back, I had to have it, its perfect and its local! And here are some of the cans I picked up from Maurice as well, and yes, that's pretty much my whole collection of cans, but hey, better than last week, and I love them, maybe I can convince my wife to let me display them inside?? (already had the Cities Anti rust and the two on the top right.)

This is near my grandparents house in Anderson SC. It may have been featured here before but here it is. One day the woman who owned it since her father passed away was cleaning some stuff out i stopped by. She said she wasnt ready to sell but her husband was quick to mention that the fridge that was inside got a 2 thousand dollar restoration on american restoration........ haha

Going through Greentown,Indiana yesterday and I saw this station. Talked to the owner today and he said it was a old Hy-Red gas station. After that it was Crystal Flash station. It was built in 1925 and closed 1949. I did ask to see if he had any pictures of it from back in the day but he did not!!! Will be doing more checking on that. It is now on the Indiana national register for historic places. Has anybody heard of Hy-Red Gas? Randy

Love the old architecture in the these early stations. I can imagine going to the gas station was as muck as destination as anything. Truely a different era and way of doing things that sadly are lost in todays world.
