Ok I was going to discuss this under the Primrose discussion but I figured the person whom is responsible for making copies of signs in flange form which are currently flooding ebay would not read it. But... as was mentioned several months ago I find it funny how items discussed on this board appear on ebay for sale. For example the Primrose quart can just listed 190492671568 be it pretty rough. Course it could be just coincidence that we discuss items and then they appear on ebay. So here goes... what I really want is a flange sign made from this picture but I prefer it to say AUTO PARTS as I have tins advertising fuses, valves insides and Repair Kit (tire). Course I want it painted and not vinyl and costing under $75.00. Course I might not buy it the first time though ebay as it would depend on my current funding sources at that particular time. If this idea does not get stolen (which I am hoping it will) I am going to make one, perhaps over the summer. Oh I have a question. Anyone ever see a real sign advertising this brand? Thanks for letting me rant and perhaps encouraging a spyder to grab an idea. signed John Mitchell of course.

John:
I know you said you wanted paint not vinyl - but my vinyl decals can be cleared over so you get the look of a painted piece without the cost of tooling up to do a 'one off' silkscreen project.
That being said, If you can source the metal flange itself, and the overall size of each side is about a square foot, decals would only be $30.00 apiece + S&H.
NO ART CHARGES OR SET-UP FEES!
Paint the base flange, apply the decals and clear over them. Ta-Da, instant one-off flange for your collection.
And since my art is 'vector based' (math data) and not pixels (photographic), you won't have the fuzzyness/pixelation of an enlarged 'PhotoShop modified' photograph.
Contact me anytime to discuss this if you are interested.

If I offended you - I'm sorry. My comments were not directed to you.
I was simply trying to explain the the differences between an illustration and a photograph (in the computer).
To expand: 'Vector' (math data) can be enlarged/shrunk with no loss of resolution. That means that if you enlarge it 200%, the computer re-computes all the archs and resizes all the text/art mathmatically prior to printing. So your art is smooth and crisp.
On the other hand, 'Pixel' data is set-in-stone in the computer's memory. If your photo is saved at 8" wide at 300 dpi (Dots-Per-Inch), and you output it at 16" (200%), your resulting output is now only 150 dpi. The larger you go with your output - the less 'smooth' the resulting print will be.

Doc you did a great job, sorry I have not had time to type this reply sooner. I am not allowed to surf as much at work anymore. I know I'll have to post a picture of my tin instead of the "borrowed" one. (Most likely the first chance I'll get will be Thrusday evening) My tin the blue is almost dark blue and the yellow is actually more of an orange. And one final request could you try to get the font closer. The A has more points - look at the very top.. I wouldn't know a technical term for this.
Now to the general audience has anyone done business with RC Media Collectables. They are the company in Roanoke, VA making the copies of lots of signs. Plenty examples ... seller name lacie52
Thanks,
John

JOHN, MAYBE YOU CAN TAKE A BETTER PICTURE OUTSIDE IN INDIRECT SUNLITE? NO GLARE, TRUE COLORS ETC? USE THE MACRO SETTING ON THE CAMERA (USUALLY A FLOWER SYMBOL).
SEND IT TO ME IN A PM.

Here are pictures of the tins. You can see they are two different oranges at least on the face. The back of the fuses seems to match the front of the valve tin. Thanks Doc for working your magic. Now that I read the back perhaps the sign should say Auto Products after what it says on the back. John
