Some clown named Bob Silva emailed me from my posting on Criagslist as I am selling a nicely restored Tall Tok 39 in red and white Mobilgas. Told me he would give me $1000 for it. I told him that he did not understand the economics of gas pump restorations. He told me he had recently bought 4 museum quality restored pumps for $1,000 each. I laughed my head off. Yeah, Goober and Gomer behind the gas station in Mayberry using spray paint and a buffer to shine those babies up!!! I'm laughing so hard I'm about to pull rib cartilage.

Thats Bob Villa. However Tommy Silva is one of the carpenters. So maybe Bob and Tommy got together and there is now a Bob Silva somehow. John

The guy wasn't smart enough to be from another planet, Mick. I told him to take his $1000 and go play in his own sand box. The guy wouldn't know a restored pump if it bit him on the ...
His wife had responded to the ad twice by phone before he did and I asked him if they were mental.

Some people are uninformed and have little experience with prices in this hobby. Pretty sure he was the guy from California who contacted me about parts? I believe I've seen pictures of what he has bought? If it is the same guy, the pumps are anything but museum quality? Now, if he is happy with his purchase, then more power to him...He just needs an education is all!

I was selling some pumps locally at a show and an Israeli came up and said "whatever you don't sell, you bring to me and I'll give you $2000 each". He is a mega millionaire and is constructing a 250,000 sq ft museum in Miami of some sort but is apprently just way too cheap. I try and not let those type of either unimformed or cheap people irritate me. ok maybe they still get to me a little

I wrote him a detailed email explaining costs in detail to restore even a pretty common electric pump. He didn't even know what a Veedor-Root was. I guess that the fact that he had no clue and that he was lying through his teeth about the quality of the pumps he purchased for $1000 each set me off. Let's say that I took exception to his reality. Remember, Mrs. Folck didn't raise a dummy. Dave Folck

No such thing as a dumb question, Nicole. Its just if you're buying something, you ought to know what it is.
The Veeder-Root, is the computer, that calculates price & quantity....
BTW,Dont ever take one apart. Leave that for the experts....
Anything Chevron I'd rather be flying.....
