This is crazy. I am a new Texaco Collector and I could spot this sign is a fake instantly. I really wonder who is buying these signs and I hope a person spending that much on a sign is gonna do some homework!!

Yup That is true....The way it is written in the auction makes it sound like it was a real sign Texaco Produced.

I was thinking that there was some value in seeing first-hand the thought process of someone like Mikemas. The window of opportunity for that has closed.

This is why I do not buy non-neon porcelain signs, just too much to know and too many chances to not get it right.

I removed a bunch of posts from this topic. The Unmarked Reproduction forum is about information and pictures concerning troublesome reproduction and fantasy items.
The interaction with Mikemas turned into a nasty and pointless rehash of the membership's condemnation of unmarked repros and a vendor's perceived justifications. We have been there and done that before with no real progress toward something constructive.
Let's call out troublesome unmarked repros on this forum, but leave the unresolvable conflict out. We can share info and warnings without name-calling and personal attacks. Yes, I'm uncomfortable asking for more civil posts about people who may deserve no respect, but we can and should share info without lowering ourselves to their level.

...are the people who bid on the Texaco signs on eBay to be considered 'experts'?...just asking - I mean, they did BID on them...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
