Alright, I have determined that my chosen pump of three is actually a model 96, even though the reset crank bezel doesn't have the model/serial #s stamped into it. There is an opening for ad glass. The site glass is round, which precludes it from being a 96C, correct? There is an opening for ad glass.
One of the other pumps which is very similar, says "96ER1H" for the model. The 994 that I got is going to be sold/trashed.
Anyone got a pic of a model 96 so I can confirm this?
Does anyone know what year(s) this model was mfg'd? I want to replicate a Standard Red Crown pump (if possible) onto this pump. I know that, depending on year, the pump should either be all red or red on bottom/white on top.
What is the thickness of glass for the two openings, ad glass and price/gallons bezel areas?
Where is a good source for gasket material? For site glass, price/gallons area, ad glass, door panels? Is the little gasket by the light switch available?
Tons of questions, I know. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Two things that you need Chuck, are a catalogue from Vic's.... There are many other suppliers to help, but this is a good place to start... They will have adglasses, decals, globes, and decals, nozzles, hoses, ect.... http://www.vicsplace.com/ Second. Get the book "Guide to gas pump restoration". You can buy it here through our bookstore. It will give you pics, paint colors, dates, and decals, for most of the gasoline brands. That will help you decide what colors and brands for your pump. Hi. You have a Gilbarco 96E with hinged doors? Does it have the hose retractor mechanism, top sight glass on doors and one large glass for the pump face on each door?!!!!!!!!!

The doors are in pretty rough shape. Yes, the site glass is in the door. The mechanism is the three roller type (two vertical and one horizontal) if that is what you are referring to. What are you looking for? Maybe I will part it out????

Chuck-- I have had mine (96E) for a year now. The ones with the hose retractor set up and hinged doors (as opposed to lift off doors) are later models of the model 96 and not that common. There is a "manual" for 96s that some guys will sell. Try Scotty's Garage--I think I got mine from him. It may be of some help. Email me at dlfolck@earthlink.net and I can send a pic.

not sure how to post pics on this board so here is a link. Can anyone confirm that the two pumps pictured are 994 on left (you cannot see the 96 behind it) and a 96 on the right?

Chuck, they seem to be 994 on the left and 996 on the right. These pumps are shorter than the 96 which never had a roll up hose. 996 were manufactured starting 1947, the 992/4 started in 1949 and all were made until 1953 when the 90x series came out on the market. The 96's were made 1938-48. Hope this helps, Claes
