Found this little porcelain sign recently at an estate sale in a desk draw, wrapped in an envelope. It is 1-3/4" x 5-3/4" and perfect condition. Original or Not??, the size is throwing me off, does not seem like an item that would warrant reproduction.(Homeowner died in 1978 and house has been empty since). Anybody ever see one? Rick

Hi Rick, I don't think it is from the olden days. I think it is a 70's novelty piece. Ed

This sign is for a horn . The horn was used in the 30 tys for ford autos. Model A ford used them and model t also.Probably from a station that sold them!

Where would it be affixed? It is very small. I've seen large signs stating sound your klaxon, horn, etc. that were mounted on buildings near alleys, on poles near corners, etc. Still say not old.

Klaxons have been around since 1910 or earlier. I probably have about a dozen or more different hand operated ones.
Quality porcelain signs as well have been around since early 1900;s.
The size of this is what makes mr think it may be newer, just cant imagine where they would place this that it could warn people if it is that small. An electric Klaxon is pictured.

Neil Gerrard, would you have a picture and approx. size of yours, I've recieved 3 emails with the same response as yours that they were applied to the rear bumpers of early cars and trucks, That would explain the small size. Anybody have a picture of one in use if that is the case, Rick

I have that KLAXON display..the front sign part
I whined and snivelled, got it pulled off ebay, paid well for it, then after I got it found it was for electrics..not the hand type. I will display them on it anyway.
