The dates for the Dixie Gas Spring Show are: April 14, 15 & 16th. Set up will be on THURSDAY THE 14TH. Set up WILL NOT be allowed on Wednesday. You can drop a trailer early (not in your set up spot), but you CANNOT set up before Thursday. We have had entirely too many complaints from buyers who come out on Friday afternoon and Saturday to find everyone already packed up and gone. As we have tried to explain in the past, this is a tourist town. Vacationers generally arrive on Friday and Saturday, not in mid-week. People are also unable to take off work early as easily as they once did. We are trying to do what is best for our show and our vendors. We want our show to grow and be successful for everyone. If you have any questions, you can call Chip at 865-254-8027.

Chip. Good move. Not many shows seem to be able to combat the earlier and earlier arrival and setup of vendors. Congrats to you for taking a stand. I believe it will only improve the the attendance and show as a whole.

Thanks Chip. Its about time a few of the vendors were told what you and we vendors want. Its sad to set up properly and have other vendors sell out and leave before the show even starts. If you cant abide by the rules Chip has laid down it would be better for the rest of us, if you would stay home. Just my thoughts.

Thanks Chip!
I think this will improve the attendance at the show. (may take a couple shows to get the word out)
I use to come down and spend the weekend at my Brother-in-laws in Knoxville. (pop collector). He and some of his friends can't go until Saturday. We quit doing that because, there was never enough there to make it worth the trip.
Look forward to doing it again, and I know they will be excited to hear this.
Chuck

This is my first time to the show. I like the move you have taken to. Question, I see Friday has a pretty good chance of rain...is this indoors or outdoors?

I am loading the truck as I speak! Can't wait. Rain or shine this has been one of the best shows I go to. One of the best hosts also. It is pretty much outside, but there is one big building with vendors in it so you can get out of the weather.

We've done this show in the Spring and Fall for over ten years? Alway has been a basic outside show. As with all shows of this kind, it goes on rain or shine. By the way, it is mostly situated on a hill so the rain runs off! Paul www.severngaspumps.com

All loaded, four pumps, pile of signs and thousands of smalls. How could this collecting thing get so out of hand. I have more in my show pile then many have in their collections. Always come home lighter, makes room for more. Will be fun !!

I'm confused? per what chip said in the first posting it was setup for vendors on Thursday...I didn't see any info stating buyers were allowed in for $3 on Thursday? So are buyers allowed Thursday or just on Friday and Saturday?

For those that are setting up at his show that are on here...anyone bringing any Enarco items?

Vintagecar,
There isn't a vendor only set-up or early bird buying. This year because of Chip's new rules, vendors will be there early Thursday morning setting up(no sooner). I have always come on Wednesday afternoon and got everything set up. Now, will have to do it on Thursday before daylight if I want to be able to get out and find things. The public can get in the same time as vendors.
In spite of what Chip is trying to accomplish,if you want a chance at the good items, you'd better be there Thurday. If you come on Saturday,I feel that the good stuff will be gone and so will most of the vendors(my opinion). Pat.

Looking for early Pure Oil Company items(Energee,Detonox,Puritan)as well as any Woco Pep items.

Looking for graphic quart cans for my collection.

Winds picked up at Dixie yesterday and as the clouds grew ominous most vendors packed up including myself. I came back over the mountain to SC and home. I took some pictures and will see about adding them at some point.

Spoke with Paddy by phone this morning said it didn't rain tell 6 pm. Everyone secured their big signs so they didn't become projectiles.Seems the luck was with them, as it rained all day here, and then the big one last night.Glad it didn't rain on the parade.

I had never been to the Dixie Gas show, man was it a cool event! I snapped a few random pics with my iphone. I don't think I have ever seen that many signs in one spot ever! Signs I had never seen before, some I might never see again. Really a blast, and a bunch of great vendors.

We arrived at Dixie Gas on Wednesday at noon. As agreed , Chip allowed me to park the motorhome/trailer on my usual spot. We put the awning out, set out chairs and spent the afternoon visiting with Miles, Mike, Barbara, Wayne, Chip, Happy, Martha and a whole bunch of other folks. Beautiful day, great view, good company. At 4 A.M. on Thursday, Big Mike from Florida pulls in right beside me.....unhooks his trailer and starts putting out stuff for sale...LOL....Hard to sleep with that going on three feet away! We were up and selling by 9 A.M. with a fine turnout. Met some new folks that I had seen at sales/shows but never had the opportunity to speak with..Weather turned bad quickly on Friday so we got out after lunch and made it home....nine hours...fighting the cross winds all the way. Enjoyed the show as always. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

...WOW...looks like 'lacie51' was there with a great selection of poorly made repro garbage...honestly, viewing the slideshow it looks like a LOT of repro stuff, overall: tin signs, porcelain signs, globes...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I was there thursday, there was a lot of repo signs, but there was also a large lot of orginal signs, lots of large tire company signs, --my weakness-- had to keep my self in check and admire from a distance.

You have to remember this is a tourist town so it wouldn't suprise me if the repoduction sign guys done very well.

made it back this morning and as always it was a great show. Thanks to Chip and Happy for being such great host. Bought a few globes, a sign and a couple of cans. The most important and best thing about gas shows was being with old friends, meeting new ones and putting faces to some of the few members on here that I havn't meet before...I want to thank John (Gasstuff.com) for picking up the tab Friday night. To the guy with the Paris Hilton sunglasses that was expecting a hug from me...no way!!! Who in the heck started that ***** about men hugging other men? That had to start on the left coast. I'm a handshake kinda guy...
Right Jim?

The hugging thing started several years ago when Larry Nance saw me hugging Barbara Story and Mitzi Cox. He said....Hey....what about me? So I hugged him! Since then, it has been a ongoing thing at this show. I hug mostly the ladies but if a guy feels left out.....I'll give him a hug too. Stop by next time if you are feeling needy? Still getting my pictures together. The signs that stick out in my mind are the old Col. Sanders metal stand-up sign and a well abused Chevrolet sign that a fellow brought to sell for a friend.

Thanks guys! How about the Sinclair Aircraft Sign in the last photo's. It's hard to see, so i guess it was a real one! Thanks again, Owen

Thanks for all the photo's! It gives the guys that can't make the show to see and maybe buy a little!

Anyone know who had the red coke bottle display rack in the photo with the metal chair with the pink seat? The seller also had the large red Salvation army sign.
