I finally (after 3+ years) have assembled my restored Wayne 60, and have a question. This originally was a Phillips 66 pump, with the logos painted on the lower panels. BOTH panels have the same four holes at the top - 4-3/4" wide by 3-7/8" high. I at first thought this was for a "Leaded Gas" sign, but all the ones I find are too large - Any help ??

Hello mikemodel60. I have a number of unrestored W 60's and they all have the Lead Plate Warning there. You could have filled the holes before painting, but at least now the holes are a smaller patern and the Lead Sign will be larger and cover the holes. Put tape on the paint where drilling so the fresh paint doesn't chip or the drill bit slide and scratch your paint.

Mike. If you have to drill new holes for the placards that you get... Match drill them.
Get some double sided tape. Not the heavy duty, "hang a huge mirror to the wall, and hope that you dont have to take it down, because it will destroy the wall" stuff. Put the placard where you want to put it. Then use the holes in the placard as a guide when you drill. Remove the placards, then re-drill the holes, the next size up, for a little wiggle room.
Use some tape where you are drilling like ed and DB pointed out. You should be fine.
Anything Chevron I'd rather be flying.....

I have a porcelain Antiknock leaded sign that has holes that are approx. 5"x4". Maybe that's what was on the pump.

I WOULD like to know what WAS there. If you can, post a picture of this plate.

Many localities required the lead sign to be on the front, and/or back, if a car could pull up on either side of the pump.
I have 100s of original Bennett blueprints on how to paint pump for various oil company and many of them have the lead sign on the door.

It's the same as the normal one, but smaller. It's 5"x6", not the normal 6"x7". Hope this helps.
