Quick question for your all.
How many of you have ever ACTUALLY viewed an original jeweled globe body? I've only seen them in books.
Do they look as Kewl all lit up as I think they would?
Lastly, if anyone has one, I'd sure appreciate a digital shot or two of it for reference. Thanks in advance.
Later . . .
Jim

Someone repos this body and it's very easy to spot once you have seen an original.
Sorry, I don't have a digital pic.

Aaron Hop sent this picture and had this to say: ...to my knowledge there are somewhere around a dozen of them out there, tops. They do look great lit up, and are quite time consuming to restore.

There are 13 now.....a guy I know just found one two weeks ago in a antique store...he called me and asked what the deal was with the "jewels" and was wondering if it was very special. I clued him in and he was really surprised as he paid just what a regular body was going for. He's calling people now and has been offered $2000 for it so far. It is missing two jewels.Anybody have a couple laying around? Jim

I would be looking real hard under bicycle reflectors, many styles will probably find right ones eventually.
BTW a buddy had a neon ringed globe holder. was originally used for GE electric lenses...how rare are the neon ones??

Dodogas, What size lenses did that body hold? Most of the globes with internal neon take 18" lenses. They are very rare. I have seen a couple of 15" bodies with neon in them too. Neither body had lenses and the sellers didn't know if they were originally for gas or other advertising lenses. Bob

I think they were 15 inch, pretty sure General electric used them.
