I was lucky enough to win another gas stick on ebay yesterday. The stick has advertising for "The Quincy Oil Company" located in Quincy MA.

Can anyone give me more of a background on this company, than I already have? The stick has the "Thunderbird" logo from the Independent Oil Men of America, on it. Plus it advertises Quincy Gasoline and Valora Motor Oil. The stick is the only one I have that has both the Ford round tank reading and Ford Model A tank readings on it. So I date it as 1928.

I did see where a "Quincy Red Hat Gasoline" single lens was sold at auction, but I am not finding any real info on the company. So I am hoping that maybe someone who lives in the North East might have info on this company, they can/will share?

Thanks, Bob

According to the globe book Quincy was Boston, MA marketer. Quincy was in business in the 1800's and operated stations into the 1980's.

Mr. Richards,
Following is a Quincy Gasoline sign that is a last minute consignment to our Palm Beach Auction. Last gas is correct that it was a Boston based oil merchandiser. The following sign has been in the consignors family warehouse since the 1940's. His father signed on as a Quincy Gasoline franchisee but in the time period between signing the contract and receiving the sign, he changed brands. So this beautiful piece was relegated to the family's warehouse where it remained until now. Hope this is helpful,
Regards,
Rory

Rory that is a great looking sign with fantastic graphics!

Thank you for sharing the photo. I just hope we don't see the image on a magnet in the next few weeks.

You don't by chance have any photos of that 1/2 gal, do you Ron?

I've now seen a globe photo, sign photo and once the stick gets to me I will post a photo of the stick. I know I would like to see a photo of a can and add it to this thread in case someone else finds more Quincy Oil items.

Thanks Doc for the reminder. I sent an email asking if he will share some info on the company?

Dennis, thank you for the photo of the smalls. I really like the pocketknife... But any small is a great item, in my book.

Received the gas gauge stick today. Does anyone remember seeing a Valora oil can? Ron, was the 1/2 can Quincy Oil and/or Valora?

I had that Valora Tin Sign, a well seasoned collector wanted it bad, said he "liked" it. Now I know why, I did not know it was related to Quincy Oil, I'm sure he did.
