I must admit that I love a variety of toy trucks and cars. From Tootsie Toy gas and oil trucks, Hot Wheel cars, slot cars from the late 50s to mid 60s...... Well I could go on and on.... Here are a couple photos of some of my toys... LOL

Lastly, must have a service station... LOL

Nice toys!

My own didn't survive the sisters that came after me. What was left of the Stief (?) animals my sister 'claimed' (mom and baby bear and a turtle). I had wanted a Galopogus (sp?) turtle that I could ride for Christmas but when I went to tell Santa, was too shy and all that came out of my mouth was I wanted a turtle--hence the Steif turtle--if only I had said Galopagus! I do have the stuffed Elephant I used to ride when I was a toddler, but the stuffing is coming out (the reason why my sister left that one behind). Everything else (trains, dump trucks, matchbox cars, leggo's, trools, dolls) my sisters destroyed.

I had a couple of cars (windows folded down, doors, hood and trunk opened) that my dad kept since he was a kid in the 30's, larger in scale to what you show, but the tornado took them away. I loved playing with them better than the matchbox cars 'cause they didn't break. And no, I'm not looking to replace them. It won't mean the same... : )

Kevin...... I think that most of Z's globes are the ones that DB does with Slama.

Thanks for letting out my secret Bob ! blush

Kevin, Bob's right...most are fantasy or repop's from DB, T-Way & other sources....with a couple real ones thrown in for good measure ! I really like the graphics on these and appreciate the work that goes into them....As you can see by most of the toys, I'm a firm believer in "old, original & unrestored" but once in a while I stray outside those lines !

Thanks & have fun !

I'm pretty sure your right on Hummer. The PD is marx and the Fire Cheif is Girard. Although Marx did make a siren FC but its the same as the PD just red. But I'm usally wrong...Tankar?

You are correct, Marx cop and girard fire chief. Both have a great siren sound.

I'm sure there is a 55 Merc out there somewhere. Japan made alot of friction and battery op toys in the 50's. Also, AMT would have made a promo '55 as well, keep your eyes on Ebay - toys - models - promo section.

Well I don't know if these qualify me to be a toy collector but it does make me a toy keeper. The Mickey Mouse Xylophone was given to me at Christmas when I was 3yrs. old. I'm 73 now. The train when I was about 3 or 4. The original horseshoe set was lost at one point so I saw this set at a auction a few years ago and had to buy them. Mitch

I sold an early production Whizzer bike last year. What you have is a little later than the one I had. I think the bars on mine were much more motorcycle like that what I see in yours.

A "man" toy vs small toy.

Nice display of a good mix of early stylized and some later vehicles. I lean more toward the large Buddy L on the top of the case.

Glad you folks like the toys. I must admit I learned the idea of having city lights and people from an 80 year old gentleman.

Now, some info about the CAST IRON TOYS in the cabinet ...

There are several RARE repros of ORIGINAL RARE cast iron toys by the late master cast iron toy make: Don Lewis.
Don’s was a mater pattern maker & his quality of castings were top-notch. The TOY WORLD lost a great craftsman in April 2010.
The two RARE ones are: Hubley Packard Sedan (RED) & the CHECKER CAB (2nd shelf -Far Right). All of LEWIS toys have
THICK RAISED LETTERED "LEWIS" under them. So, it would be hard to pass them out as originals. Production quantity of each:50

The following pictures are from my friend's collection. He has been collecting them since 1970.

Picked this up today, 1920's Keystone Dump, really like the large pressed steel but it's usually a little cost prohibitive for me...was happy to find this one for a REALLY good price ! smile

Nice truck. What would a realistic value for it be?

Seen these anywhere between $325 & $575 depending on condition.....this one probably towards the lower end of that, not huge dollars but I'm somewhat frugal these days on my toy buying grin

Given the condition average $400-450. Nicely restored about $800 retail. Dump trucks are the most common toy truck you can find throughout the years even back in 1925 when your truck was new.

Here is one of my recent acquisitions for resale....
A 1938 Buddy L D-cab International. This was a ride-on toy and I'm now looking for a seat and steering/pull arm for it. This truck is about 23# in weight and slightly wider than the 1925 truck shown above.

Just bought this race car a couple of weeks ago. It was made by Buffalo Toys of Buffalo, New York. It's right around 24" in length.

You just gotta love these old toys. Thanks for posting, guys.
Here's a few of mine. Mom's Williams tanker when she played trucks with her brother.

My old army tank minus rubber tracks.

My old Doc Hudson. The dealer gave this to me when Dad bought his new 1949 Hudson Commadore.

Dad ran the wheels off of this Arcade TT Ford, then pulled it with a string until the spindles wore off.
Thanks,
Rod van Pelt

Wow!! Just looked through the whole thread. I need to quit looking though before I start another hobby. I love the old Art Deco style toys. Sure don't make them like they use to.

Thanks,

Picked up a new toy today. It's a buddy L wrecker with original paint, in real nice shape. Somewhere around 1926.....
