...lately there seems to be a rash of gas station giveaway marbles on Oldgas, both on BOTW and advertised for sale...
...these aren't old...at least 15 years ago, some genius discovered that marbles and plastic bags were really cheap, and they could make cheesy little paper ends for the bags with copies of old advertising...about the cheapest and easiest fake you could make...
...in many cases, the fonts are wrong on the paper ends as well...while I suppose there could be an original marble giveaway item out there, I've not seen it...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I apologize I can't bring the brand to mind (perhaps Atlantic), but I've seen a bag or two that have the imagery from the back covers of maps of the late '40s and early '50s. When you're a paper person, these really stick out. Years ago I used to collect soda stuff, and the old National Geographic back cover Coke ads also migrate onto marble labels. Glad you brought this up!

I dont think I'll buy any of these whether it gas/oil or soda because I havent seen a genuine bag I could verify.

These are all over at the large swap meets in the $10 range I've seen them with pepsi and moxie labels too. I would say 99% chance they are phoney.
see me at Mason Dixon Gas, Spring Carlisle M114-115, and Hershey C4E-35.
