I HAVE A GUT FEELING THIS SIGN IS A REPOP. YES, IT DOES SAY MCMATH AXLROD DALLAS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SIGN. LOOK AT THE SELLERS FEEDBACK (28) ALL FOR MOBIL PPP. THE SELLER IS FROM RIO GRANDE, TEXAS. THIS TOWN IS LOCATED ON THE BORDER OF UNITED STATES/ MEXICO.

The feedback is a who's who of buyers\resellers. I doubt he duped them all.
Looks like he's unloading a find one at a time. The way it should be done LOL

...those signs are original...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Are you guys sure about that ?

The "Mobilgas" font doesn't match the font used on the five shield signs I have. Including one McMath Axilrod sign.

However, the font is a real close match to a key hole sign I have.

Maybe this sign is an early one using the old font ?

Or ?????

This guy has sold a lot of more or less NOS signs like this over the last year or so. Darin (Sheffer) who collect Mobil, answered about the same question a while back and he also verified them as original.
I guess it is always "suspicious" when someone all of a sudden has so many of a certain sign, (remember all of thóse Mobilgas "keyhole" signs that popped up a couple of years ago?) - but IMO this MC AX sign is real.

Regarding the Magnolia Mobilgas and -special signs - there are a lot of variants with subtle differencies... Open or closed "a" + font differencies, "MC AX" or "Mc Math Axilrod" markings...not easy to have control over all of these...

The signs he has sold were NOT all the same, they were different variations of the mobilgas shields

yes, I recall both Mobilgas and Mobilgas special - can't seem to remember any other...and IIRC they were both the open and the closed "a".
