OK somebody told me that restoring a Roman Column was a "Finger Bleeder" and boy were they right x 10 because of the little grooves to sand and fill. Holy cow! Every day I get up and tell myself I am finally ready to paint and by the time I get down to the shop I realize I need to sand again, then again then again. I think the name of this pump should be either "The Wallet Buster" or "Arthritis King". Well here is one pic. The pump will go to Koolmotor and instead of using brass on everything I decided to go with nickel but you guys will have to wait to see that. After a few cortizone injections and rehab I may finish it:)

Always good to pay attention to details and make it right the FIRST TIME!!! Your lucky enough to own one of those pumps! I am sure it will be worth it when it's all done. Good luck on your project.

It will look great in Cities Koolmotor and the nickel will look way better than brass.

I can appreciate all that tedious work and know what it's like to think that this is it only to realize that little voice in your head is saying......"there's a little flaw, you need to do it again and no, someone will notice it if you leave as is". Looks very nice and keep pluggin' away. It will pay off in the end.

OK so I sanded more and more and after painting my wife strolls in and says "I think the globe should be a different color". Well that shot me right through the roof for two reasons. One she wasn't invited and two she was right. Damn that ***** me off so I resprayed it:( Sincerely, Happily Married

Ok I have learned something, Don't paint all parts then assemble. Holy scratches. I guess I learned my lesson.

Ok I managed to scratch the electrical conduit so that is drying. Holy cow that was a back breaker, knuckle and finger bleeder and I'm sure all the sanding I did spead up my arthritis by 3-5 years but all in all I think she looks pretty neat. I was going to have somebody come in to airbrush the shadows on the tube and scrolls but after spraying it I found out that they give enough natural shadow. The little red 61 in the backround is why I am starting to sell as I will need some room to work on that and maybe a few dollars. I hear early vettes are REALLY cheap to restore:)

Wow! What a restoration effort. You sure have a great taste in dealing with rare pumps. I see a BENNETT in the background ...
I take it you got help from your neighbors to move the Roman around the shop smile

A finished picture of the vette by the Roman would be spectacular.

No help moving it:( My wife just passes by and puts her five cents worth and leaves. I actually have the chiropractor bill to prove I move it.

Great looking pump turned out super, I think the nickel was a good choice. This pump shines without the chrome. Lot of the local bike builders here have been doing a lot of nickel, and it looks more aged authetic.
