I found a use for the old electric motors from early pumps by adding a threaded shaft adapter available from Eastwood and other places. The pads and polishes are at most auto paint supply stores and the motors are low rpm which are great for buffing. Seem to come in right and left rotation as well

I've had one running my 9" South Bend Metal Lathe for over 30 yrs [a friend wired it to run either direction]. I have at times ran it long enough that you couldn't touch the because of the heat, but hasn't stopped working YET. Be sure to keep checking/adding oil to fill cups.

Since they are "explosion proof" and have no fan they all should have a max RUN TIME stamped on the tag
